A case that initially started as a missing person report in Lucknow’s Ashiyana neighborhood took a dark and shocking turn when it was discovered that 21-year-old Akshat Pratap Singh had allegedly murdered his father, businessman Manvendra Singh, cut up the body, and then tried to conceal the crime with an intricate deception.
The investigation into a missing person in Lucknow’s Ashiyana area has evolved into a disturbing murder case, marking one of the most chilling investigations in recent history. Initially thought to be a sudden reaction to pressure related to NEET, the case has since revealed a sinister story involving alleged premeditation, dismemberment, and a meticulous effort to conceal evidence.
On February 20, a tragic incident occurred when entrepreneur Manvendra Singh was fatally shot by his 21-year-old son, Akshat Pratap Singh, within the confines of their residence. Authorities have obtained a 14-day judicial remand for the suspect, allowing them to proceed with further questioning.
A TRUST SHATTERED, A FAMILY BETRAYED
A theft occurred at Manvendra’s residence approximately four months prior, resulting in the loss of precious jewellery. The initial investigation pointed to the household staff, prompting a report to be filed with the authorities. However, it was later discovered that they were not responsible for the missing items. As the inquiry continued, attention shifted to a family member, with Akshat’s actions sparking suspicion and raising questions about his involvement.
Prior to the situation getting out of hand, Manvendra retracted his complaint, and the issue was discreetly settled outside of formal channels. However, the damage had already been done, and the father’s confidence had been eroded. As a result, he started keeping a watchful eye on Akshat’s actions, and according to insiders, this newfound distrust led to a rift in their bond.
On February 20, a deadly altercation occurred, as reported by law enforcement. The incident unfolded at approximately 4:30 am on the third floor of the residence, where a heated argument escalated, resulting in Akshat allegedly seizing his father’s firearm and discharging it at point-blank range, instantly claiming his father’s life.
Kriti, his sister, was said to have been in the room at the time. According to her description to family members, the loud noise of the gunshot caused a piercing sound in her ears. She supposedly argued with her brother afterwards, to which he responded that the firearm had discharged unintentionally due to his frustration, and he cautioned her against sharing what had happened with anyone. Investigators are currently examining the fact that other family members who were sleeping on separate floors did not hear anything.
After the murder, police sources disclosed a disturbing detail that Akshat and his sister Kriti allegedly stayed inside the house and ate a meal while their father’s body was still in the room.
BLINKIT KNIVES BEFORE MURDER
What followed, investigators say, marked a disturbing escalation. Police sources claim that a day before the murder, two knives had been ordered online. A saw and a blue plastic drum were allegedly purchased from a local market.
Mutilation and Concealment of Human Remains
Akshat reportedly dismembered his father’s body with knives and a saw when it wouldn’t fit inside the blue drum. The torso was then placed in the drum, while the other body parts were disposed of in different places to avoid detection. The gun that was used was allegedly buried, and some of the remains were transported in a car’s trunk and discarded about 21 kilometers away, as per the investigation.
Erasing Crucial Evidence Clues
According to investigators, the shooting led to severe blood loss, resulting in extensive bloodstains on the bedding and splatters throughout the room. It is claimed that the blood-stained linens, blankets, and pillows were then bundled into bags and incinerated near the Sadaruna canal. Authorities have subsequently retrieved the partially burned remnants and submitted them for further examination and analysis.
Additionally, investigators discovered that certain sections of the walls had recently been coated with a new layer of paint, leading them to suspect that this was an attempt to cover up blood stains as part of an effort to sanitize the crime scene within the residence.
The Drama of ‘Papa Laut Aao’
Following the homicide, a report of a missing individual was submitted to the authorities on February 21, with Akshat reportedly claiming to the police that his father had traveled to Delhi and was currently uncontactable. The accused formed a WhatsApp group called “Papa Laut Aao,” where he shared emotional messages asking his father to come back home. Police believe this could have been a tactic to divert attention while he participated in a search with his friends in public.
‘A Mistake Was Made’ Explanation
Akshat Pratap Singh, a 21-year-old suspect, is now asserting that the fatal incident was an accident, despite evidence suggesting a deliberate and calculated act, with authorities uncovering signs of meticulous planning and attempts to cover up the crime.
